David Margolis

How do you hope your work will affect its audience? I hope my humble input into the final product will help complete the illusion and give the audience a moment of escapism.

What sounds influence your work? Loud dramatic classical music.

What makes you decide to create your work? The challenge.

Where do your talents lie? I think I have an unusual brain. Maybe it's something to do with my dyslexia but I'm lucky enough to be both creative and technically minded at the same time. I find most people are one or the other.

What was the first creative thing that you ever did? Probably dribbling or making an unusual noise.

Has anyone taught you how to use your talent better? Yes. Lots of people in the industry have taken me under their wing. It's just a matter of showing an interest in what they do.

What makes you creative? I think the need to create comes from insecurity about my own mortality. When I die I want to leave something behind that keeps me alive in people's memory.

How did you get started? I decided what I wanted to do, quit college and signed up to this website - www.shootingpeople.org

What inspires you? Great films, live music and anything about space.

Who inspires you? Orson Wells, Stanley Kubric, Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemekis, Jean-Pierre Jeunet (to name a few)

What are you trying to achieve? To find new and unique ways of entertaining people.

Do you collaborate? All aspects of filmmaking involve collaboration. You can't avoid it.

Ignoring money and all of life’s woes, what would you want to be? I don't think money or life's woes particularly effect what I want to be. I just want to be a good person who does good work and leaves a mark on the world.

What’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen / heard / experienced? Watching Uri Geller bend a spoon whilst it sat in the palm of my hand. That changed me forever.

What do you consider to be the most important thing in life? Balance in everything.

Who/what is your nemesis and why? Laziness is my nemesis. My entire life is a battle against laziness. Any success I have is directly proportional to how much laziness I have overcome.
