About

Magnus is about creativity for everyone

Creative people leaving education often have minimal guidance about starting a business, or even resourcing the tools and funding they need to make and promote their work. There is no singular resource to find this information and not much support once you leave education. As artistic careers cannot often be found within established companies, the path to being paid is often very hard. Furthermore, if you did not choose a creative career at university, your chances and opportunities are reduced even further. Changing career is difficult. We feel that a lot of talent is being lost in this way and wish to redress the balance.

Magnus was launched in 2006 and its intentions are 3 fold:

  1. To help creative people to produce, promote and find work, by making education, information and opportunities more widely available.
  2. To promote the arts as a form of entertainment for everybody to enjoy.
  3. To be the focal point for anyone interested in starting a creative career.

Magnus will never:

  1. Take the copyright of our artists work from them. All work submitted will only be used at the artists discretion. (Unless explicitly stated otherwise in relation to competitions, projects and specially commissioned work)
  2. Try to exploit or take advantage of our users

Magnus will always:

    • Endeavour to improve itself and it’s design.
    • Do it’s best to help it’s users into their chosen career.
    • Display all work submitted on the website. Magnus reserves the right however to refuse to display pieces of work which are bigoted or offensive (this refusal is subject to an appeal process if you feel we simply haven’t understood your work)
    • Try to be as inclusive as possible, across genres, formats, ideas and styles
    • Try to have advertising only if, and when, it is useful and relevant to our users. We intend to work closely with any advertisers we may have so that they will inform our readership in a practical manner about their products/services.
    • Try to do our best by our users, and for our users
