What themes run throughout your work? Emotion. I always hope to capture something more than a face – a face may mean something to the people who know that person, but an emotion can speak to almost anyone.
How do you hope your work will affect its audience? I hope that my art can make people feel something, regardless of what that may be.
What sounds influence your work? I’m always listening to music when I draw, but what kind of music it is changes from day to day.
What makes you decide to create your work? Usually a kind of accidental inspiration – seeing a picture, or taking a picture that makes me want to draw.
Has anyone taught you how to use your talent better? Actually, it was a high school teacher who taught me that I could draw at all! In grade 10 I drew my first self-portrait for a class project, and hated the final result so much that I swore I would never draw another person again. A couple months later though I had to try it again, and I’ve been drawing ever since.
What are you trying to achieve? I’d love to come to a point where I could support myself as a full-time artist
Ignoring money and all of life’s woes, what would you want to be? Professional soccer player ;)
Accepting the need for money and all of life’s woes, what do you want to be? I’d like to work in the environmental sector (which is what I’m planning on getting my degree in)
