Nick Sutton

What themes run throughout your work? Melodic house/dance tracks

How do you hope your work will affect its audience? The music is art so I hope they will enjoy it and make them happy.

What sounds influence your work? Masters at Work, Jazzanova, Jazz and Funk

What makes you decide to create your work? Inner creativity.

Where do your talents lie? I have a good eye and ear for good design and music.

What successes have you had so far? One of my tracks got quite popular in Oxford and was played on a few local radio stations and in Oxfords biggest club night “Slide” several times.

What was the first creative thing that you ever did? Made a killer dance track on my dads keyboard whilst at secondary school.

Has anyone taught you how to use your talent better? Not yet, but am hoping to find a mentor.

What makes you creative? Life situations. I find I am more creative when I am inspired and happy.

How did you get started? My dad bought a crappy old keyboard in Currys when I was 12. I found out that I could connect it to the PC with “midi” cables. Then, a neighbour who produced music for a living, gave me a copy of “Cubasis”, the free version of Cubase. I got the hang of it quickly and I was hooked.

What inspires you? Life, nature and other music.

Who inspires you? Other people who believe in me.

What are you trying to achieve? Money, fame and world domination of course. But more realistically, I would ideally to be recognised as an artist and earn my living that way. But as my passion lies in electronic music, this status would be incredibly tough to achieve. Therefore, I would like to be part of a professional establishment producing high quality creative pieces for high profile clients.

Do you collaborate? So far I haven't managed to properly collaborate with anyone but if I get the time I would love to.

Ignoring money and all of life’s woes, what would you want to be? An artist (See above)

Accepting the need for money and all of life’s woes, what do you want to be? A professional (see above)

What’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen / heard / experienced? Honestly cant remember, I have a crap memory. I see so many amazing things all the time.

What do you consider to be the most important thing in life? LIVING.. if you are not living you are not living. I believe you shouldn't settle for something if you can achieve more.

Who/what is your nemesis and why? My nemesis is the short-tempered, money hungry businessman who cares more for revenue than quality, and doesn't really appreciate the skills his workforce use to run his business. Any businessman in a company should have a lot of experience in what they are selling/providing.
