Restless Blues

by Joseph Grosso...

With each passing hour it reminds me of its presence

The lonely heart beating within my breast

It longs for its own possession, its essence

Only to be left alone in jest

All around are oceans of beauty

How warm is the blue water

Clear to its lively depths full of life

The sun’s rays mingle with fully with the waves

Along the coast exist sights of welcoming naves

Yet I cannot swim

For once on the sandy shore I saw

A blessed sight which made the senses soar

The heart played like a harp

A tune of wondrous allure

Still as my toe touched a receding wave

Its water turned stone cold

Clouds covered the expanse of vision

The heart was not to bathe in its fold

So the restless heart wanders

Steeped in longing and without affection

Past joyous waters crowded with swimmers

Through barren pastures plagued with dust

With nothing to savor but occasional lust

As the same hours fade

There is only fleeting hope for that great day

At such time loving her with passion divine

When upon my heart can say

Come dear one for you are mine
