What themes run throughout your work? The way people think - see my websites for further elaboration.
How do you hope your work will affect its audience? I hope it will affect them.
What sounds influence your work? Sounds that have a magic quality about them which makes them almost visible.
What makes you decide to create your work? The fact that I can - I am, therefore I do.
Where do your talents lie? No special powers worth speaking of, but I do tend to assimilate those of anyone I have contact with.
What successes have you had so far? I'm fifty five and still alive - I reckon that's pretty good going.
What was the first creative thing that you ever did? It was so long ago I can't remember.
Has anyone taught you how to use your talent better? My partner. She enabled me to be more objective about my work, to see whether it's doing what I want it to do. Being with her is like being at Art School all over again. She has the patience of a saint!
What makes you creative? The desire to create - I know that sounds a bit obvious, but that's the way it is.
How did you get started? Slowly at first, then quicker as I got the hang of it.
What inspires you? Anything inspirational.
Who inspires you? Anyone dealing with the same ideas/work as me, only better.
Do you collaborate? I take advice when it's offered.
Ignoring money and all of life’s woes, what would you want to be? Me. I've got to the stage in life where I quite like who I am - what more can a person want?
Accepting the need for money and all of life’s woes, what do you want to be? Me, only slightly better at earning money.
What’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen / heard / experienced? An unexpected glimpse of the finality of death - it was black. I sincerely hope that when it really is my time to go, I don't see it coming.
What do you consider to be the most important thing in life? Life - after all, we only get the one.
Who/what is your nemesis and why? A hopeless inability to promote myself. Sales techniques were never part of my education, or if they were, I somehow managed to blank them out.
Artist Statement: My aim is to produce art which transcends, reason, explanation, or the need for justification. With this in mind, I set out to produce work that wouldn't require any knowledge of the culture or history of society or art and could be equally accessible to everyone. Initially I used mathematics, geometry, logic and systems as a way of producing images free from any personal baggage. Seeking to explore the balance between logic and emotions was the starting point for the "Fluid Geometry" series. Since then I've followed the inherent projective possibilities as later work has developed in theme specific directions.
