Andy Hunter

What themes run throughout your work? Vortexes and the Universe.

How do you hope your work will affect its audience? I hope they will never get tired of looking at my art and make their own minds up about what they see in my paintings and what they say to them.

What sounds influence your work? Indian tabla drums and some house music/rock music i.e. Led Zep/Hendrix/Van Halen.

What makes you decide to create your work? Recently Hubble Space Telescope images, NASA pictures and natural nebula colours.

Where do your talents lie? Original abstract art painting and CD album cover artwork.

What successes have you had so far? Several large exhibitions at festivals in Southwest England and South Wales and selling originals and prints online from http://andyhunterart.yolasite.com I also designed a CD cover for a trance/chillout band called Inzofar from Spain.

What was the first creative thing that you ever did? Some comprehensive drawings of dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum in London. I spent many days there.

Has anyone taught you how to use your talent better? Susan Dexter my partner and soul mate, and very talented jewellery designer/maker. http://flamingtabby.webs.com/

What makes you creative? Space and the Universe, and Life.

How did you get started? Originally designing band posters in the 1970’s for the South London mod band Flat 19 that I was the drummer in, and then more seriously just before the millennium in 1998 until the present.

What inspires you? Space, the Universe, nebulas, galaxies, planets, the Hubble Space Telescope, the Earth, vortexes and natural colours of the universe, and my dog.

Who inspires you? The aboriginal or first nation people, NASA and my soulmate Sue Dexter.

What do you do when you are suffering from creative block? Nothing, it’s pointless and non productive so I write down my ideas as they happen and therefore always have an idea waiting to be expressed.

What are you trying to achieve? To become a famous artist and experience personal happiness in life and love forever.

Do you collaborate? No, all my work is pure and unique.

Ignoring money and all of life’s woes, what would you want to be? An astronaut or caveman.

Accepting the need for money and all of life’s woes, what do you want to be? A popular artist.

What’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen / heard / experienced? The birth of my 3 boys Adam, Dan and Joe and the total solar eclipse from Poole beach in Dorset in 1999.

What do you consider to be the most important thing in life? TRUE LOVE!!

Who/what is your nemesis and why? My fear of heights but no reason for it. I did a reverse bungee jump to free myself of the fear but it remains.
